Queen’s Baton creates cross-Atlantic connection as PrideHouseTO delivers historic relay

Pride House Glasgow and PrideHouse Toronto were united today in the symbol of a baton. The Queen’s Baton, the Commonwealth Games’ equivalent of the Olympic Torch, will travel throughout all 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth in advance of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, it is currently making its way through Canada. In a historic first, PrideHouse Toronto programmed a 1.5km leg of the relay which will finish in Glasgow. Leaders from the Pride House Glasgow organizing team are expected to carry the baton during its final days in Glasgow. LGBTQ rights are expected to be at the centre of the Commonwealth Games with Pride House Glasgow leading the way. Homosexual activity remains a criminal offence in 40 of the 53 Commonwealth states.
